A New School Year

The warmer temperatures, the blooming cherry blossoms and an elevated level of activity at Playday all point to one thing: a new school year.

 

気温が暖かくなってきて、桜が咲き、プレイデーでの活動のレベルを上げています。それら全てが意味することとは新学期です。

 

It was great to see several of our former Mom and Tots students move up to a first-year Kindergarten class without their mothers in the classroom. Not a tear was shed as the students lined up in front of the classroom door and waved goodbye to their mothers. They even received their first English book and their first homework assignment.

 

以前、Mom&Totsクラスだった何人かの生徒さんが、お母さんと離れ離れになる年少さんクラスに進級されるのを見るはとてもいい光景でした。涙を一つも流さず教室のドアの前にならんで、お母さんたちに手を振っていました。生徒さんたちは、英語の本と宿題さえも受け取りました。

 

We also welcomed many new students to our school and opened more classes to accommodate our growing numbers.

 

また、たくさんの新しい生徒さんを迎え、生徒さん増加の適応のために新しいクラスを作りました。

 

For some, this is their first time studying English outside of their regular school. Others already know the ABCs and are hungry to know more English. It doesn’t matter if children come to us with some or no knowledge of the English language. We are just excited to make new friends and spend time speaking English with them.

 

何人かの生徒さんたちにとっては、これが学校外での初めての英語の勉強になるとおもいます。中には、もうすでにＡＢＣを知っていて、もっと英語を学びたいという生徒さんもいらっしゃいます。すでに英語の語彙の知識があるかないかなど問題ではありません。私たちは、ただ新しいお友達を作り、みなさんと英語でお話をしながら時間を過ごすことをとても楽しみにしているのです！

 

Playday is making new changes as well to give our classrooms a better look.

 

プレイデイは、教室も同様に、よりよく見せるために、新しく変わっています。

 

We added a large whiteboard in our window classroom and we plan to add another whiteboard in our second classroom. Now, we’re able to play more games like Bingo and baseball, and there is a lot of space for students to practice writing.

 

窓際の教室には大きなホワイトボードを取り付け、もう一つの教室には、さらにもう一つホワイトボードを取り付けようと計画しています。今は、ビンゴや野球などのゲームができ、生徒さんたちがライティングの練習ができるスペースがたくさんあります。

 

With each new school year comes new challenges and the same can be said at Playday. The English lessons will progressively become more difficult especially for our older students.

 

新学期がくると同時に新しいチャレンジがやってきます。それはプレイデイでも同じことが言えます。特に高学年の生徒さんには、英語の授業がもっと難しくなっていくかもしれません。

 

But students, don’t be afraid. We want to see our students excel and enjoy learning a new language so we give them harder lessons to exercise their minds and expand their understanding. We know they can handle it. The important thing is not worrying about making mistakes. It is good to make mistakes and then learn from them.

 

でも、恐れないでください。私たちは生徒さんたちが新しい語彙を楽しく学んで、そして心を鍛え、理解を広げるためにもう少しハードなレッスンができるようになるのを楽しみにしています。私たちは生徒さんたちはできると確信しています。重要なことは間違うことを恐れないことです。間違えることはいいことです。間違いから学びます。
